For hundreds of years many leaders have tried to unify Europe. During those years leading up to the Second World War, the Unity of Europe has only lasted as long as the reign of one leader. Winston Churchill was a man of many facets, but his political prowess and instincts regarding the coming together of Europe was one of his most celebrated accomplishments. Churchill was able to create the United Europe Movement. At the time, Churchill was the former British Prime Minister and he along with several other leaders formed this first step to Unify Europe. This movement was mainly to organize and promote a publicity campaign to support Unity in Europe.
Churchill created the Union of Europe Federalists to "set a federalist umbrella organization to which we could all belong." It set basic principles for the European community on federal lines. Churchill saw the military leaders that attempted to force the movements even in their own continent. None succeeded so he approached the geographical and cultural unity by using non-democratic inter-state agreements to lay down peace using the United States tactic leading them to thrive.
Churchill had many establishments supporting the European Countries to become one. His Economic League for European Cooperation was to insure that Europe had equality among all of Europe during the aftermath of World War II. The league also made sure that Europe would gradually regain an economic, political, and cultural influence, as well as, maintain this influence. But this all happened over time and was something that the continent had to work together on to achieve this goal.
All of these movements and committees are focused all around the same thing: bringing back Europe from time of darkness to a time of light and prosperity. Winston is the definition of a great leader and he is someone that all can look up to. Not many can achieve his level of greatness. He will always be remembered as time moves on.
